Molly’sBritish Coastal World Record

On 6th July 2025, former professional cyclist Molly Weaver set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of the British coastline by bicycle, completing the route in 21 days, 10 hours and 48 minutes. Despite multiple attempts by various athletes over the years, the previous record had stood since 1984, and until Molly’s effort no woman had ever attempted the full coastal circumnavigation at record pace. Setting the new benchmark involved cycling over 7,700 km and climbing the equivalent of more than eight ascents of Mount Everest, while contending with extreme and changeable weather: heatwaves, gale-force winds, 18 consecutive days of headwinds, and prolonged spells of torrential rain. Molly rode for roughly 18 hours a day, pushing through the inevitable mental and physical barriers, and negotiating the demanding, often rugged terrain that comes with tracing the coastline of Great Britain.
